Early American Automobiles

Pre-1900

It is for the automobile historians to determine who was the first to invent, make, and patent the automobile. In my opinion, there is a distinct difference in making an item and to patent it. I am showing what I have found on the internet and do not claim the authenicity of any dates which I have shown.

From 1900 to 1929, there are two pages marked A and B for each group of automobiles. Just keep clicking on the "Next Page" at the bottom of the pages. There are over eight hundred photos.

Charles King completed his automobile in March of 1896, and, with his helper  Oliver Barthell aboard, King made his maiden journey through the streets of what would become Motown. Henry Ford, whose car wasn't running until three months later, followed on a bicycle. After a lenghty delay, he founded the King Automobile Co. in 1912
